MDP Amendments
The Town's Municipal Development Plan (MDP) is a statutory plan that has been approved by Town Council by bylaw and in accordance with Section 632 of the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A. 2000, c.M-26. All other statutory and non-statutory plans approved by Town Council must also generally be aligned with or be consistent with the Town's MDP.
Amending the Town's MDP
The Town or any landowner may initiate an amendment to the Town’s MDP, and any amendment that is authorized by Town Council shall be adopted by bylaw and in accordance with all procedural and content requirements of the MGA - including the holding of a public hearing at Town Council.
How to Proceed with Amending the MDP
If initiated by a landowner, a formal planning application to amend the Town's MDP must be prepared and submitted. Please note that the following steps are either recommended or required for any landowner wishing to apply to amend the Strathmore MDP:
- Pre-Consultation Application
Although pre-consultation is not a prerequisite for submitting an application to amend the MDP, it is strongly recommended that all prospective applicants discuss their development proposal in detail with the Town’s Development Services Office prior to submitting a formal planning application.

At this time, all applications to amend the Town's MDP must include applicable fees, a cover letter, a development proposal brief, and a concept plan and/or site plan. Please note that additional supporting materials may be required and will vary depending on the complexity and nature of the MDP amendment request.
If any ArcGIS/CAD digital files are available, it is also strongly recommended that these be submitted at the time of application.
