Strathmore Cemetery

Strathmore & Sacred Heart Cemetery

The Strathmore and Sacred Heart Cemetery is located at 127 Strathmore Lakes Common, Strathmore, AB T1P 1Y7 along the west side of town along the Trans Canada Highway. The cemetery is found in the shelter of a variety of tall trees, facing out to the open skyline on its south side.

We understand that the Strathmore Cemetery is a meaningful and sacred place, serving as the resting place for nearly 2,000 individuals.

• A walk through the cemetery shows a Field of Honour along with many historic markers demonstrating the history of settlement in this area. Some are dated in the mid and late 1800s. 
• In addition to cemetery plots, there are columbariums and Tree Dedications.

The Town has recently worked to update Cemetery rules and bylaws to make the Strathmore Cemetery even more inviting and well-kept for everyone. Read more about this project:

Town of Strathmore’s Cemetery is operated and maintained by the Parks Department. Town of Strathmore Cemetery site maintenance includes:

• Snow removal
• Lawn mowing
• Flower bed planting and maintenance
• Grave leveling and seeding
• Monument leveling
• Weed control
• Gopher control
• Shrub and tree trimming
• Garbage pick up
