Stage 4 Water Restrictions

The City of Calgary has enacted Stage 4 Water Restrictions due to a water main break and have asked surrounding communities to do so as well. Effective December 31, the Town of Strathmore has implemented Stage 4 Water Restrictions. These restrictions mean:
• No outdoor water use (e.g., flooding outdoor ice surfaces)
• Indoor facilities such as pools, rinks, and recreation facilities will remain open

Please consider taking the following steps to reduce water consumption:
• Limit showers to under 3 minutes
• Flush toilets only when necessary
• Run dishwashers and laundry only when full

As we navigate Stage 4 Water Restrictions, our water system operator, EPCOR, is proactively topping our reservoirs to ensure we have adequate water reserves to support essential services and maintain system stability. While EPCOR manages operations behind the scenes, our community’s continued efforts to conserve water remain critical. Reduced demand helps keep reservoir levels strong and supports system reliability until Calgary’s system is fully restored.

 

Tools for School

The Tools for School program makes sure every student has what they need to succeed at the start of the school year. By providing financial assistance and essential supplies, we work alongside local schools and families to support eligible students and set them up for success.

The Tools for School program works in three phases. Information about the program process and how to apply can be found below.

Order Processing & Financial Aid Identification

Families place school supply orders through their chosen school. Schools then identify students eligible for financial aid based on the 2024 Financial Threshold criteria.

Financial Aid Processing

Schools notify FCSS of eligible students. FCSS covers the cost of approved school supplies and reimburses families.

Additional Supports

Approved students can receive a free backpack. Backpacks can be picked up during regular business hours at FCSS, provided the student's name is on the approved list.

  • Families must place orders through their school for supplies.
  • Schools will determine eligibility based on financial need.
  • FCSS will cover costs for approved applicants and notify families.
  • Additional support (backpacks) is available at Lil’ Hoots for approved students.

Applications for 2025 open in August and close at the end of September. Families must apply within this timeframe to be considered for support.
