Community Volunteer Assistance

Join the Snow Angel program.

Be someone's snow angel.

While the winter season makes for a beautiful and icy landscape, it also comes with its icy challenges. Clear sidewalks are essential to keeping everyone safe and enjoying winter. But for many residents, especially those with limited mobility or healthy concerns, snow shoveling can be a real challenge. This is where the Strathmore Snow Angels Program comes in.

Got questions?

We have answers.

It's a pretty simple program. Residents in need of snow removal help have a “Snow Angel” sign in their front yard, letting you know they could use a helping hand keeping their walkways clear during winter.

All you need to do is bring a shovel, find a sign, and help out your neighbour by clearing their sidewalk, driveways, and paths.

Below is the sign you'll be looking for.

If you need help removing snow and you're a resident of Strathmore, you're eligible. Please note, the Snow Angels Program relies on the good will of neighbourhood volunteers. Placement of a Snow Angels sign is not a guarantee that snow will be removed.

For more information and to request a sign, connect with the Strathmore's Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) at 403-934-9090

Snow Angels are citizens; youth, seniors, families, community groups, and corporate, who voluntarily shovel snow for residents needing snow removal assistance. Snow Angels do not have to sign up, just grab a shovel and help!

Simply grab a shovel and help! No sign-up required.

Properties participating in the Snow Angels Program are marked with snowflake symbols, and their addresses are labeled for easy identification.

Shoveling snow is a very strenuous activity.  Prevention of injury or exhaustion is extremely important, click the following links for some shoveling safety tips:  https://www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers/ergonomics/snow_shovelling.html
