  • Coffee with Council - Budget Edition

    On November 7, 2023 Council is in Chambers getting coffee - and you're invited! 

    Join Council at the Strathmore Municipal Building (1 Parklane Drive) on Tuesday, November 7 at 9 A.M.

    Council in Chambers Getting Coffee is an opportunity for residents to meet with their elected officials in an informal setting and have a conversation over a cup of coffee.

  • Council Meeting Highlights, September 21, 2023

    In attendance: Deputy Mayor Wegener, Councillor Langmaid, Councillor Mitzner, Councillor Montgomery Councillor Peterson, Councillor Wiley

    A community member presented to Council requesting revisions to the Community Standards Amendment Bylaw.

    A resident of Lambert Village presented a signed letter to Council from 33 residents, regarding noise in the evenings from the Kinsmen Park pavilion. Administration will return to Council with a report on October 11, 2023.

  • Community Delegation Night

    Are you part of an organization that relies on outside funding? If so this is your chance to have a funding request for your organization reviewed by Council as part of the 2024 Capital Budget. 
    Community organizations provide recreation, culture, education, and other benefits to Strathmore’s residents – and for people across our region. The Town of Strathmore supports the work of these organizations through grants and funding agreements. In 2023, over $800,000 in funds was provided to more than 20 community organizations. 

  • Walk for Reconciliation

    Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

    The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

  • Local Groups to Support Strathmore's 2SLGBTQIA+ Community with Pride Crosswalk

    STRATHMORE, ALBERTA – September 14, 2023 – During the July 19th Regular Meeting of Town Council, three local community groups Skatemore Girls, the Wheatland Youth Network, and Prospect Human Services Skills for Success presented their delegation to Council. Inspired by similar installations in multiple communities across Alberta, the Strathmore residents requested permission to paint a privately funded, pride crosswalk.

  • Town of Strathmore Selects BluPlanet Recycling as New Waste and Recycling Service Provider

    STRATHMORE, ALBERTA – September 7, 2023 – Strathmore Town Council is pleased to announce that after a comprehensive evaluation process, BluPlanet Recycling, a trusted waste and recycling company in the region, has been selected as the town's new waste and recycling service provider.

    Several items were accepted as part of the Consent Agenda including correspondence from residents and local organizations, the Wheatland Housing Management Body board minutes, and a budget amendment concerning the Aquatic Centre roof replacement.

  • Region locals receive registration advantage.

    STRATHMORE, ALBERTA | September 1, 2023 – The Town of Strathmore has introduced an advanced swimming lesson registration window for residents of Strathmore and Wheatland County. Going forward, residents that live within the boundaries of the town or county will have an opportunity to register for lessons before registration opens to those that live elsewhere.

  • Long-term Environmental Protection

    STRATHMORE, ALBERTA | July 27, 2023 – The Town of Strathmore is taking meaningful steps to safeguard the environment. Council has approved the construction of a permanent “snow dump” and access roadway to be constructed in the Pivot Fields, east of Range Road 251. Construction will begin immediately, with the project anticipated to be completed well in advance of the coming winter season.
