What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Accounting Services Supervisor, the Utilities Clerk plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the efficient administration of the Town's utility services. This position is responsible for the accurate maintenance of utility accounts, processing billing and payments, responding to customer inquiries, and ensuring the integrity of utility records and related financial transactions.

As a primary point of contact for utility customers, the Utilities Clerk provides professional, courteous, and timely assistance while working collaboratively with internal departments to support operational excellence and service delivery.

Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education with a concentration in accounting or administration, is considered an asset
  • Minimum two (2) years of financial experience in related field
  • Experience with accounting ERP systems, especially Microsoft Diamond/Great Plains

Our interview questions are designed to assess the following competencies:

  • Proven ability to complete work accurately, with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze and investigate billing issues or discrepancies
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to various audiences, such as residents or colleagues
  • Ability to establish and maintain good public relations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adhere to deadlines
