At last evening’s Council Meeting, Council received an update regarding the Memorial Pow Wow in Honour of Kristian Ayoungman and they discussed the Rural Renewal Stream Program.

Last evening Council held the Organizational Meeting of Council and they received several delegation presentations from community groups, requesting support and funding.
STRATHMORE, ALBERTA | October 24, 2022 – The Town of Strathmore has purchased a new electric ice resurfacer for the Strathmore Family Centre thanks to funding from the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC).

At last evening’s Committee of the Whole Meeting, Council received a report about the Garden Suites survey and they were able to congratulate Strathmore Communities in Bloom for their recent provincial win and score of 5 Blooms.
Making life better for people. It’s a simple objective and one that’s at the very core of what the Town aims to deliver. For us to achieve this objective, a robust and resilient economy is critical.
One of Council’s six Strategic Priorities is to ensure Strathmore is well-positioned to encourage commercial and industrial economic development with a focus on sustainable growth. That’s where Economic Development comes in… and Angela Groeneveld.

The Strathmore Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week (FPW), October 9-15, 2022. This year’s FPW campaign, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape”, educates with simple actions to keep our community safe from home fires.

At last evening’s Council Meeting Council gave final reading to the Boards and Committees Bylaw and approved the reallocation of funds to purchase operations equipment.
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
