What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the Seasonal Parks Operator will play an integral role in maintaining outdoor amenities and making Strathmore a beautiful and enjoyable place for all who live here and visit us. This role will work primarily outdoors, in varying weather conditions. The work can be physically demanding, and requires daily usage of hand and power tools, handling of chemicals, and operation of work vehicles. This seasonal role requires candidates to be available to work the entire summer season, ending on August 28th, 2026.

Hours:

The work week is typically Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week and may include weekend and statutory holiday coverage shifts, as required. Due to Civic events, it is mandatory that all Parks Operators be available to work on Canada Day and the Heritage Day long weekend.

Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Current Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence, with clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Ability to operate various maintenance equipment and tools
  • Can work independently, and also cooperatively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous parks/landscaping experience considered an asset

In the interview we will be looking for the following competencies:

  • Ability to prioritize safe-work practices
  • Ability to contribute to team cohesion and success
  • Examples of past experience working independently, with minimal supervision
