Penalties/Fees will be charged on unpaid balances after the due date in accordance with Town of Strathmore Fees By-Law . In order to avoid late fees, payments must be received at the Town Office by 4:30 on the due date specified on the Utility Bill. Please keep in mind when paying by mail, telephone/internet banking or at a specified banking facility it may take up to 10 days for the payment to come to the Town office as these types of payments are applied the date of receipt at our office not the date payment was made.
Failure to receive or loss of the utility statement cannot be accepted as a reason for non-payment or exemption of late penalty.
Any Utility Bill or portion thereof that remains unpaid at the Due Date shall have a penalty applied to the unpaid balance, which penalty will form part of the rate levied. Penalties are applied on the Balance Owing.
There shall be a fee for each NSF cheque, returned cheque, and EFT (electronic funds transfer) item returned.
In accordance with the Town Bylaws, any utility charges that remain unpaid on the invoice as of a specified deadline in a Final Notice letter, the Town of Strathmore allows for either disconnection of service or a transfer to the tax roll account of the property. A charge will be applicable, without further notice, on any outstanding amount on any Outstanding Utility Bill that is transferred to the tax roll.
Note: when your account is kept up to date - you are exempt from penalties.
