Information Technology Services - "IT"

In a municipal office, IT is the team that keeps the tech side of things running so services are fast, reliable, and easy to use. They make life smoother for both staff and residents. Their work helps improve efficiency, protect data, and strengthen communication.

Key roles of IT include:

  • Keep systems running – from computers and networks to cloud storage.

  • Build and maintain software – for things like permits, property info, and finances.

  • Software & Applications: Build and maintain systems for permitting, finance, property management, and more.

  • Supports residents online – through the municipal website, service portals, and digital tools.

  • Manage data – make sure it’s accurate, useful, and secure, supporting decision-making

  • Protect information – with strong cybersecurity and backup plans.

  • Help staff daily – fixing tech issues and keeping everyone productive.

  • Connect Residents to Services: Managing websites, online portals, and tools that connect residents with municipal services.

  • Collaboration Tools: Supporting email, video calls, and shared platforms to keep departments connected.

As with many of the Administration Services Team, the IT staff work behind the scenes to support everyone, both internally and externally.

However, with our strong reliance on internet technology, their services are important and missed when there is any disruption in online information.

Hats off to the IT Team!
