World Town Planning Day in Strathmore

November 8, 2025

WHEREAS, from the parks we enjoy, to the streets we travel, to the places we call home, the discipline known as planning is interwoven within our lives. Every day, planning professionals work in communities like the Town of Strathmore, across the country, and around the world to make a positive difference in how we live, work, and play. By leading the design and management of land and resources, planners help to protect our environment, promote health and well-being, preserve cultural heritage, and deliver community features that contribute to better outcomes for all,

WHEREAS, this year’s World Town Planning Day theme is, “With Planning We Can!”, and on November 8, 2025, the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Alberta Professional Planners Institute, and the Global Planners Network will join other planning organizations worldwide to celebrate the 76th annual World Town Planning Day. On this noteworthy day, planners come together with fellow community builders and citizens to celebrate the purpose of this important profession. World Town Planning Day represents an opportunity to reflect on the vast accomplishments of planners and to encourage curiosity and collaboration in solving modern challenges.

RESOLVED, I, Pat Fule, Mayor of Strathmore hereby designate Saturday, November 8, 2025, as World Town Planning Day in Strathmore. It is more important than ever before to support Registered Professionals in the Town of Strathmore and the larger Calgary Metropolitan Area, and across the rest of Canada, and around the world, as they purposefully plan for current and future generations.
