Town exploring a new multi-court space at the Sports Centre:

Strathmore, AB, September 8, 2026 – The Town of Strathmore is asking for the community’s input into how undeveloped court space at the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre could be used.  

The Town’s Recreation and Culture team is currently exploring the costs, community need and public support to potentially develop the current concrete space into a multi-use court area, similar to existing gymnasiums. If built, additional courts could be used for sports like basketball, pickleball, volleyball and other recreation or community activities. 

“We’ve had this undeveloped space for a while now, and we want it to become a valuable recreation space for the community,” said Mayor Pat Fule. “But first, we want to hear from residents and know if it would be a worthwhile investment.” 

The Town held a meeting with Sports Centre user groups earlier this month. They are now offering two ways for the community to give input: 

Council has not yet made a decision to build additional courts. They will discuss it at their upcoming October 14 meeting, when staff will present the findings from their community engagement and cost analysis.
