Strathmore Fire Department Moves to 24-Hour Coverage Ensuring Faster, More Reliable Response Times

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Strathmore Fire Department Moves to 24-Hour Coverage Ensuring Faster, More Reliable
Response Times

Strathmore, AB – The Town of Strathmore is proud to announce that, as of November 10, 2025, the
Strathmore Fire Department will officially transition to a full 24-hour, 7-day-a-week staffing model.
This milestone follows a decision by Strathmore Town Council earlier this year and was made
possible through the support of the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Grant, which helped fund
critical staffing and infrastructure improvements.

The move marks an advancement in community safety, ensuring quicker, more reliable emergency
response. This improvement increases protection for residents, businesses, and new
developments, while enhancing the town’s overall emergency preparedness and resilience.

Key Benefits of 24-Hour Coverage
• Faster and more reliable response times to fires, rescues, and medical emergencies
• Expanded coverage for new subdivisions, commercial areas, and industrial growth
• Reduced fire risk and property loss through earlier intervention and increased readiness
• Proactive fire prevention and inspections, improving safety for residents and businesses
• Improved insurance grading, benefitting homeowners and the business community

The transition to a 24-hour coverage reflects Council’s strategic priority of Community Wellness
and commitment to community safety.

“Council has prioritized community wellness and is committed to ensuring that our residents have
the necessary services to support them when an emergency situation arises,” said Mayor Pat Fule.
“With support from the WUI grant, we’re ensuring that our firefighters have the resources they need
to protect our residents, our homes, and our growing community—any time of day or night.”

“We are now in a position respond to emergencies quickly and effectively, no matter when the
situation arises. This transition allows our team to meet the needs of our growing community and
improve our response times,” said Fire Chief David Sturgeon.

By investing in continuous fire coverage and leveraging WUI grant funding, the Town of Strathmore is
building a resilient, well-protected community where families and businesses can thrive.
