Statement from Mayor Pat Fule on tragedy at CFB Wainwright
The Town of Strathmore was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic incident at CFB Wainwright this weekend. While the full details are still emerging, we know that many families, the Wainwright community, and the Canadian Armed Forces are facing a time of profound loss and grief.
On behalf of Strathmore Town Council and all residents of Strathmore, I extend our condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of those who lost their lives. To those who were injured, we wish you strength and a full recovery, and to everyone touched by this tragedy, please know that our community is holding you in our thoughts.
The members of our Canadian Armed Forces, and the families who support them, give so much in service to our country. Their loss is felt not only in Wainwright but in communities across Alberta and Canada, including our own.
We are grateful to the first responders, health care workers, and frontline personnel who acted quickly and continue to work tirelessly to care for those affected.
As a mark of respect and solidarity, flags at Town of Strathmore facilities will be lowered to half-staff in honour of those who lost their lives and all who have been affected.
Strathmore stands with Wainwright, the Canadian Armed Forces and their families. In the difficult days ahead, we will continue to keep them in our hearts.
