Council Meeting Highlights, July 6, 2022

At last evening’s Council Meeting, Council held a public hearing for the Land Use Amending Bylaw, passed a consent agenda, and directed administration to review a pow wow event request presented by Melodie Ayoungman.
- A Public Hearing was held regarding the Land Use Amending Bylaw, 22-18.
- Council received a presentation from Melodie Ayoungman who was requesting support for a Pow Wow to be held in honor of Kristian Ayoungman.
- Council authorized Administration to enter into a natural gas hedging agreement with the Town’s utility provider.
- Fire Chief Sturgeon presented a Mutual Aid Agreement between the Town of Strathmore and the City of Chestermere.
- Council gave second and third reading to the Bylaw to amend the Land Use Bylaw 14-11, Bylaw 22-18.
- Council gave first reading to the Bylaw to amend the Land Use Bylaw No. 14-11, Bylaw 22-21 and directed Administration to schedule a Public Hearing for Bylaw No. 22- 21 for September 7, 2022 at 6:00pm in Council Chambers. This Bylaw proposes to redesignate a parcel of land to develop a unique pea protein processing facility for Phyto Organix.
- Council reviewed the Wheatland Housing Management Body Regular Meeting minutes from June 16, 2022 and the STARS Ally Impact Report from 2020-2021 as part of the Consent Agenda.
