Council Meeting Highlights, February 15, 2023

In attendance: Mayor Fule, Deputy Mayor Wegener, Councillor Peterson, Councillor Mitzner, Councillor Montgomery, Councillor Wiley

At last evening’s Council Meeting, Council scheduled public hearings regarding amendments to the Land Use Bylaw and gave third reading to the Fees Bylaw, allowing for ceremonial events to take place in Council Chambers.

  • As part of the Consent Agenda, Council reviewed a letter from the Alberta Coordinated Action for Recycling Enterprises (CARE) regarding their Spring Seminar taking place at the Travelodge Hotel on Feb. 22-23 
  • Council gave first reading to Land Use Bylaw Amending Bylaw 23-03, and scheduled a Public Hearing for March 15, 2023 at 6:00pm. The proposed amendment would integrate the feedback received by business owners, decreasing regulations around sea cans and cutting red tape.
  • Council gave first reading to Land Use Bylaw Amending Bylaw 23-01, and scheduled a Public Hearing for March 15, 2023 at 6:00pm. Administration received an application for a land use redesignation of 9 Bayside Place (Lot 9, Block 1, Plan 781 0935) to facilitate the development of attached housing.
  • Council gave first, second, and third reading to the Fees Bylaw Amendment, Bylaw 23-10. The amendment created a new fee to allow for ceremonial events to take place in Council Chambers.
