BUSINESS

Proposed Cemetery Bylaw No. 26-04

  • The current Cemetery Bylaw is not aligned with the Cemeteries Act, in addition, maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery have been an ongoing challenge for Operations. Moving forward with additional supports in place will help ensure a cleaner and safer environment for all.
  • Over the past several years, the Town of Strathmore has been working closely with internal teams and outside partners. To ensure financial sustainability, alignment with the Cemeteries Act, and as a solution to operational concerns occurring at the cemetery, Council and Administration began to undertake a review of the Cemetery Bylaw for efficiencies.
  • A proposed version of the Cemetery Bylaw was presented to Council.
  • Council asked Administration to return to a future Council meeting with an updated Cemetery Bylaw.

Services and Service Levels Inventory Review

  • The Services and Service Levels Inventory is simply an overview of the services provided by Town of Strathmore departments and outlines what residents can expect from each. It helps ensure Council’s priorities are reflected in how services are planned, funded, and delivered.
  • Each service includes a ‘service level’ – which means the standard of service the Town aims to provide, such as how often a service is delivered and how quickly requests are handled, and how departments are staffed.
  • The Inventory reflects current services and is reviewed every year to make sure it continues to meet community needs, reflects economic conditions, and stays aligned with Council’s goals.
  • Council asked Administration to return to a future Council meeting with an updated Service Level Inventory for adoption.
