Council Meeting Highlights, April 19, 2023

In attendance: Mayor Fule, Deputy Mayor Wegener, Councillor Langmaid, Councillor Peterson, Councillor Mitzner, Councillor Montgomery, Councillor Wiley

At last evening’s Council Meeting Council held a public hearing for the East Pine Road closure and received and update from Alberta Health Services regarding Strathmore’s ambulance service.

• Council proclaimed April 16 – 22 National Volunteer Week and reviewed Community Futures Wild Rose Loan Portfolio Report as part of the Consent Agenda.
• Council held a Public Hearing for the East Pine Road Closure, Bylaw 23-11. The associated documents will be sent to the Minister of Transportation for review.
• EMS Calgary Zone presented Council with an AHS/EMS update. Topics discussed included call volume, EMS resources for Strathmore and Wheatland County and the frequency at which Strathmore’s ambulances respond to events in the City of Calgary.
• Council adopted a revised version of the 2022 – 2025 Strategic Plan.
• Council approved the transfer of the 2021 and 2022 accumulated surplus into reserve accounts.
• Councillor Montgomery encouraged everyone to take part in Pitch-In Week!
