Committee of the Whole Highlights, October 11, 2023

At last evening’s Committee of the Whole Meeting, Council reviewed options to limit excess noise and speeding on Parklane Drive and they also considered amendments to the Seniors Tax Rebate Policy.

  • Council began the meeting with an in-camera session to discuss the Economic Development Strategy  and the Council Remuneration Policy.
  • Council discussed updates to the Cemetery Bylaw. Updates to the bylaw would strengthen the Town of Strathmore’s ability to provide efficient, compassionate cemetery services while planning for future needs.
  • Council discussed option to mitigate noise and speeding on Parklane Drive and the Pavilion at Kinsmen Park. Suggestions included adding signage and targeted enforcement. This topic will return to Council at a future meeting.
  • Council considered amendments to the Seniors Property Tax Rebate Policy. The goal of the program is to provide support to low-income senior property owners with their property taxes, ensuring that they can remain in their homes longer.
