Councillor Peterson is committed to serving the community, and she focuses on collaborative projects such as the Siksika/Strathmore Anti-Racism Initiative and Wheatland Housing/Wheatland Hospice partnership. She was raised in a south-eastern Alberta farming and ranching community, now proudly residing in Strathmore with her husband Rev. Deacon Roger Nelson. Together they have five children and eleven grandchildren. During her career in education she has worked as a teacher, principal, and consultant. She remains a sought-out educational consultant and helps out in a local family business.
