The administrative arm of the municipality, headed by a municipal manager or Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), is responsible for the daily operations and implementation of Council directives. In Alberta, a municipal Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is the senior municipal employee, appointed by and reporting to Council, who acts as the administrative head, implementing Council's policies and directives
