Stage 4 Water Restrictions
The City of Calgary has enacted Stage 4 Water Restrictions due to water main repairs and have asked surrounding communities to do so as well. Effective March 9, the Town of Strathmore has implemented Stage 4 Water Restrictions. These restrictions mean:
• No outdoor water use (e.g., flooding outdoor ice surfaces)
• Indoor facilities such as pools, rinks, and recreation facilities will remain open
Please consider taking the following steps to reduce water consumption:
• Limit showers to under 3 minutes
• Flush toilets only when necessary
• Run dishwashers and laundry only when full
As we navigate Stage 4 Water Restrictions, our water system operator, EPCOR, is proactively topping our reservoirs to ensure we have adequate water reserves to support essential services and maintain system stability. While EPCOR manages operations behind the scenes, our community’s continued efforts to conserve water remain critical. Reduced demand helps keep reservoir levels strong and supports system reliability until Calgary’s system is fully restored.
The Town of Strathmore is once again taking part in Pitch-In Week, Canada's largest environmental improvement campaign. Strathmore Pitches-In is a great opportunity for residents, students, or community groups to get together and clean up our community.
How to participate:
Registration for Strathmore Pitches-In is now open! Roll-up your sleeves and-sign up individually, with your business, organization or school. We’ve provided two registration options below.

Can I use my own garbage bags, or do I have to use the yellow Pitch-In bags?
If you use your own bags, please make sure to dispose of them yourself in a Town of Strathmore public garbage bin, as they are easily tracked as part of the event.
To make things easier for our volunteers, yellow pitch-in bags can be left curbside or along sidewalks boulevards on public property. Once dropped, take a photo of the location and send it through text or email to operations@strathmore.ca (403 361 2137) letting them know where the bag can be found. Our Parks and Operations team will then locate all bags and dispose of them for you.
Can I deposit my Pitch-In bag in my home's black cart?
Sure! If the bag fits in your garbage cart than feel free to dispose of it through regular pickup.
Do you provide gloves and bags?
Yes, we’ll provide gloves and bags that can be picked up at the Strathmore Municipal Building once you've registered.
There is an area in my neighbourhood that is full of litter. Can you send someone to clean it?
Strathmore Pitches-In is a voluntary community activity. We’ve identified 7-zones for cleanup, but volunteers are more than welcome to clean any area that needs assistance. If you’d like to cleanup a specific area than just let us know during the registration process.
Can I collect recycling materials for Strathmore Pitches-In?
We do not pick-up blue box materials during Strathmore Pitches-In. If the items are clean and safe to pick up, (e.g., empty plastic bottles) you may wish to take them home and put them in your own blue box or drop them off at the Strathmore Recycling Facility. Unfortunately, cardboard, newspaper, rusted cans, etc. which have been exposed to the elements are too contaminated to be recycled. These should be treated as waste.
No, Strathmore Pitches-In is not meant to replace proper disposal of household items.
HIG collection is an option for large item disposal. 2026 dates are April 13 to 17 and September 14 to 18.
What should I do with old paint cans, batteries, tires, stoves, etc.?
Please visit Strathmore.ca/Waste for information on the disposal of hazardous waste items and large items.
What should I do if I find unsafe items during the clean-up?
Do not touch any items that pose a safety risk. We'll provide flags for you to mark the item and our Parks and Operations' team will assist.
