Physician Incentives

Doctors needed!

There is currently a shortage of physicians in the Town of Strathmore.

Come practice in a place that values community wellness and is focused on the maintenance, protection, and improvement of services that support optimum lifestyles.

Why Strathmore?

We are a community of over 13,000, located 40 km east of Calgary with big city conveniences and services, but complete with small town charm.

Essential medical services are currently not keeping up with the needs of our growing community so Town Council has established two grant programs to provide incentives to attract physicians.

  • The Physician Incentive Program is a grant program to incentivize the establishment of local medical offices.
  • The Physician Sponsorship Grant is grant program to support the medical offices in their sponsorship of internationally trained physicians through the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) assessment process.

The Town of Strathmore is piloting a grant program to incentivize the establishment of local medical offices.

The purpose of this grant is to support practitioners in coming to Strathmore to set up primary medical care offices.

Details:

  • The Town will offer a total of one grant, to an eligible applicant, on a first come first served basis per year.

  • The final amount will be determined by the Town's Chief Administrative Officer, based on final determined costs incurred to establish the practice.

  • To be eligible for the grant, applicants must agree to commit to opening (or have opened) a primary medical care office in the Town of Strathmore within 12 months, and agree to pay the grant back to the Town should the physician practice in the Town for less than five (5) years.

Successful applicants should prioritize Strathmore residents when considering new patients. Applicants will agree to provide annual metrics on how many patients live in Strathmore.

Applications are currently being accepted and will close once an eligible application is received. Additional applications will be kept on file for the following year and reviewed in the order received.
