2025 Municipal Election

Every four years Strathmore holds a Municipal Election where residents elect a Mayor and six Councillors. In Strathmore, Council members are elected at-large, which means the Mayor and Councillors represent the entire population. Strathmore does not have wards, voters in the town may choose up to six candidates for Council, and one candidate for Mayor.

The next general election will be: Monday, October 20, 2025

  • Nomination Period: January 1, 2025 – September 22, 2025   
  • Nomination Day Deadline: September 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. 
  • Election Day: October 20, 2025, polls will open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. 
  • Advance Voting Days: October 15, 2025 and October 17, 2025, polls will open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m.

Campaign Disclosure Statements. Candidates that have accepted contributions between January 1, 2025 and July 31, 2025 (including self-contributions), you must file the required campaign disclosure forms by September 30, 2025.

October 20, 2025 Election Day. Election advertising period ends.
October 22, 2025 Deadline for applications for a recount based on concerns at voting station.
October 24, 2025 Mandatory attendance, Councillor onboarding, orientation, and training sessions
October 25, 2025 Mandatory attendance, Councillor onboarding, orientation, and training sessions
October 26, 2025

Deadline for applications for a threshold recount (0.5%).

October 27, 2025 Last day for election signs to be removed.
October 29, 2025 Council Organizational Meeting
November 10, 2025 Elector deadline to apply for a judicial recount.
December 31, 2025 Campaign period ends.
January 1, 2026 Campaign period for 2029 election begins.
March 31, 2026 Campaign Disclosure Statements. Candidates that have accepted contributions or incurred expenses in 2025 you must file the required campaign disclosure
