Seniors Advisory Committee

What we do

To enhance access to Town Services for seniors, the elderly, and their families and to identify and suggest solutions to gaps and barriers that impede the full participation of seniors and the elderly in all aspects of life within the Town of Strathmore.

No. of Positions

7- In addition to the members of the public, there are also representatives from Town Council (1) as a non-voting member.

Term

One (1) year, maximum four (4) consecutive years.

Eligibility Criteria - members

Public members should be:

  • residents of Strathmore, and
  • at least 18 years of age
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:
  • Seniors Outreach;
  • Health Care Professionals who preferably have responsibilities in providing care to seniors;
  • Education Professionals who deal with educational needs and opportunities for seniors;
  • Seniors Housing;
  • Citizens at Large from the community age fifty-five or older

Chairperson

In addition to the above, preference will be given to applicants who:

  • have experience chairing a committee or board meeting;
  • have understanding of the Town of Strathmore Procedure Bylaw;
  • demonstrate strong time management skills; and
  • have previous experience with public engagement Have previous experience in the following:
  • Seniors Outreach;
  • Health Care Professionals who preferably have responsibilities in providing care to seniors;
  • Education Professionals who deal with educational needs and opportunities for seniors;
  • Seniors Housing;
  • Citizens at Large from the community age fifty-five or older

Meetings

The Committee meets once a month on the first Monday at 3:00 pm (the Committee does not meet in July or August).
