Affordable housing in Strathmore

March 30, 2009 Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Yvonne Fritz announced that $10 million in provincial funding was to go directly to Age Care Health Services Incorporated to develop affordable housing in Strathmore. Age Care Health Services Incorporated received this provincial funding to provide low to moderate income families and seniors living in Strathmore increased access to affordable housing. Strathmore Brooks MLA Arno Doerksen, who was present for this public announcement, has in the past advocated that citizens living in Strathmore or Brooks have access to affordable housing.

                      

As part of this project  Age Care Health Services Incorporated will provide 82 unites in total; 40 for seniors and 42 for young families of affordable housing that will accommodate 56 one bedroom and 26 two bedroom units, of which 10 will be barrier free and wheelchair accessible. 

 

Funding for this project is part of the Alberta government’s five year approach to create more than 11,000 affordable housing units across Alberta by the year 2012.
