The Strathmore Handi-bus is funded in part by the Town of Strathmore, Legion Branch #10, Wheatland County and private donations.
It is the mandate of the Handi-bus Association to provide service to those meeting one or more of the following criteria: Handicapped, temporarily disabled, hospital patients, seniors, extended care residents, seniors or disabled social groups.
The Strathmore Handi-bus provides safe, courteous, timely and cost-effective transportation service to the elderly and/or handicapped residents of the Town of Strathmore and Wheatland County. Priority will be given to trips requiring a visit to a health care professional. Trips for shopping, entertainment and cultural events will be accommodated whenever possible.
Bus Safety
To make your trip as pleasant and as safe as possible, we ask for your cooperation in obeying the following regulations, based in part on Province of Alberta regulations:
- Remain seated while the Handi-bus is in motion
- No smoking in or near the Handi-bus
- All clients are required to wear seatbelts including those in wheelchairs.
- Clients need to be responsible for their own medical supplies/apparatus/oxygen
Booking the Handi-bus
All bookings and appointments must be booked directly through dispatch during office hours between 8:30 am until noon and 1:00 pm. until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Booking at least one week or more in advance is appreciated. Messages will be responded to on weekends and statutory holidays in regards to cancellations or emergency medical bookings only. When booking a trip, clients need to be prepared to provide the following information: date and time of appointment (dispatcher will advise of expected pick up time) number of riders, address where the client is be picked up, destination address, duration of stay at destination and any special requirements.
Payment Options
Please pay at the beginning of ride.
Cash, cheque, or pre-purchased coupons are acceptable methods of payment. We do not accept debit or credit cards. Coupons may be purchased in advance directly from dispatch. Cheques need to be made out to The Town of Strathmore.
