The Strathmore Handi-bus is funded in part by the Town of Strathmore, Legion Branch #10, Wheatland County and private donations. It is the mandate of the Strathmore Handibus Association to provide services to handicapped individuals and seniors over 65 years of age.

The Strathmore Handi-bus provides safe, courteous, timely and cost-effective transportation service to the elderly and/or handicapped residents of the Town of Strathmore and Wheatland County. Priority will be given to trips requiring a visit to a health care professional. Trips for shopping, entertainment and cultural events will be accommodated whenever possible.

In Strathmore Rates in small van [return trip]

• Social trips for all approved clients-$10.00 each
• Medical Trips for all approved clients-$7.00 each

Out of Town Rates per km rate

• Large Bus-Social Trips-$3.50/km
• Large Bus- Medical Trips- $1.00/km

The Strathmore Social Groups going to Calgary using the large bus will pay $385.00 for a 6 hour booking [from the time of pick up to the time of drop off]. Anything over the 6 hour duration will result in an overtime cost of an additional $50.00/hour. Please contact Dispatch for exact fees for your pick up and drop off location.

These rates will be reviewed regularly and be upgraded as necessary at the beginning of each new year. Strathmore Handi-Bus is regulated through the Provincial Operating Authority which permits the transport of handi-capped persons and seniors 65 years and older. Our apologies to those who do not meet these requirements.

The Board is constantly struggling to balance our service as personal, unique and affordable to those who truly rely on this type of service with our increases of expenses. Your full support and understanding is needed and appreciated so the Handi-Bus Association can maximize the funding they receive and minimize any cuts to the service.

Booking the Handi-bus
All bookings and appointments must be booked directly through dispatch during office hours between 8:30 am until noon and 1:00 pm. until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday at 403-934-3418. Booking at least a few days in advance is appreciated but not required. Messages will be responded to on weekends and statutory holidays in regards to cancellations or emergency medical bookings only. When booking a trip, clients need to be prepared to provide the following information: date and time of appointment (dispatcher will advise of expected pick up time) number of riders, address where the client is be picked up, destination address, duration of stay at destination and any special requirements.

Cancellations
As of June 1, 2011 clients who are required to cancel a booking are encouraged to do so 24 hours in advance directly with dispatch. Any early morning bookings that need to be cancelled must be cancelled by 4:30 pm the previous day to dispatch or will be considered a late cancellation. Any other bookings that are not cancelled 3 hours prior to a booking will also be considered late. All late cancellations will be charged a $25.00 cancellation fee which will be charged directly to the client and payment will have to be made within 7 days.

Payment Options

Please pay at the beginning of ride.Cash, cheque, or pre-purchased coupons are acceptable methods of payment. We do not accept debit or credit cards. Coupons may be purchased in advance directly from dispatch. Cheques need to be made out to The Town of Strathmore.
