Councillor Rocky Blokland
Councillor Blokland owns and operates two coffee shops in Town – Rocky’s Bakery and Rocky & Ellies’ Café - so gets lots of feedback from the public. He and his wife Ellie have lived in Strathmore for 10 years. They have four children and eleven grandchildren. Some of the main issues that pushed him to run for Council were the need for downtown revitalization, an Economic Development Officer to attract business and industry which would help create jobs and offset taxes. He is also open to working with other levels of government to look at alternate possibilities for the relocation of Highway #1. He feels that the citizens, no matter what age, need to have access to recreational facilities and that the Town needs to look at more baseball diamonds, availability of ice time, walkways and soccer pitches.
