Bylaw Amendment Information

  • Applicants must fill out a application form;
  • Fees must be collected ($1000.00 per application for the first 10 acres, plus $5.50 each additional acre);
  • Bylaw goes to Council for First Reading;
  • Once the Bylaw has received First Reading, it is then scheduled for a Public Hearing usually 2 - 3 weeks away; and

o       it must be advertised in the paper two consecutive weeks, with the last advertisement being at least five days prior to the Public Hearing date, to allow anyone affected by the Bylaw an opportunity to voice any concerns, and to give an opportunity to make suggestions and provide representation,

o       a letter is be sent out to adjacent land owners advising them of the change, and giving an opportunity to make suggestions and provide representation.

  • A Public Hearing on the Bylaw is held;
  • Pending results of the Public Hearing, Council could table the Bylaw for more information, or give Second and Third Reading to adopt the Bylaw;
  • If Council refuses to give Second or Final Reading, a new application to amend the Land Use Bylaw can not be made for the same Use, on the same site, within the period specified in the Land Use Bylaw.
